Tabasco is rich in history, it was here the historic invasion of Mexico took place and is the birthplace of the famous "Malinche" or La Doña Marina, who betrayed her homeland and became the concubine of Hernán Cortez, giving birth to the first Mestizo (a mixing of Spanish and Indian blood) a son Martín , (first Mexican) ). She was bilingual speaking Nauatl (Aztec) and Maya, and along with Spanish speaking Geronimo de Aguilar ( who Cortez would later abandon as he left Teotihuacan) through their translations aided the Spanish during the intial battles of the Conquest. Visit her birthplace, and hear the real story. The true history of the Conquest of Mexico, " La Malinche's Conquest. "
Stop in Cupilco a small agricultural village with amazing history and the most ornate church in Tabasco.
Our Lady of The Ascention, hear the amazing story of how the statue of " Our Lady of Cupilco " guided fishermen
to take her to her rightful place. Hear the story at the place where it occurred, how all Tabasco churches were
ordered to be destroyed, by Governor Tomas Garrido, the order was being carried out but the State's troops
nor anyone for that matter could get near the Church in Cupico. It is said that the Indeginous population there
surrounded the church and fought off with machetes in hand, any attempt by the government to go near the
church. They defended their Church until the Tabasco government accepted defeat at the hands of the
macheté wielding Faithful.
Stop also in Nacajuca and Jalpa de Mendez where the
Embroidery and Textiles or Jicaras for drinking Pozol in the traditional way can be bought .

Water from upstream carries the calcium from the dissolving rocks and it is deposited on almost anything it touches in form of Travertine, it gives the appearance of blue water or falls, cascade after cascade, here you can swim if you like.

Inscribed bricks that bear the " Mason's Symbols " that were used in ancient Rome and Greece at that time. One more major historical find of modern times, of which few people are aware. Does it prove Romans had contact with the Maya 1000 years prior to Columbus and his historic arrival in the New World?
Maya Nobels were buried with sumptuous offerings and favorite articles such as wood carvings, shark teeth and tails of stingrays and of course chocolate. Compare Burial urns ( sajal ) and method of burials here and at Palenque with those of India and Southeast Asia.
Visit Teapa Tabasco, The State Park of the Sierra,
from where you can easily access, Villa Luz and Tapijulapa. Explore the Cave of Marbles, visit La Hacienda Los Azufres and it's healing sulfur springs and spa, Tacotalpa, Agua Blanca, Agua Blanca Falls, the Caves of Coconá
and Las Playas del Rosario. The Maya believe all life came from caves
and their rituals are still performed in caves, a mixture of Catholic and ancient beliefs.
We have lunch here. 45 minutes from Agua Azul is Mishol Ja waterfall, one of the most beautiful in Chiapas, and perhaps all Mexico. Visitors can go under the falls and explore the area behind the falls where there are a number of caves. Then on to Toniná, where the " Cosmic Wars " took place where we'll learn more about the more about the ancient Mayan Culture from this
the " house of stones " . Toniná has the distinction of the last recorded date of 909 A.D.
There is a wonderful site museum there .
