More than 300,000 hectares (approx. 740, 741 acres). The Centla Wetlands Biosphere Reserve, is the most important of North America.

Interpretation Center called “Uyoyot-Ja” is located here, it means “The House of Water”. It is the entrance to this exuberant ecosystem of major economical and social importance. Learn the international importance of this ecosystem by interactive screens.
Uyotot-Ja has more than 523 species of vertebrates; the most important are the Stork, the Crocodile, the sweet water Tortoise, the Manatees and other species in danger of extinction.

The Centla wetlands Biosphere Reserve has a rich diversity of flowers. This richness has more than 500 species of blossoms; that is the most important live museum of aquatic plants in Mesoamerica

Tourist Journeys with specialized guides

NUEVA ESPERANZA,TABASCO

It offers an ideal midday journey, specially, to ornithology lovers! It is an upper trip by the Usumacinta River . There, you will observe thousands of birds that arrive every year there. Birds stay from December to April to  feed and to reproduce the species. You will eat a typical dish as while they are resting in one of the natural terraces-restaurant  and enjoying a wonderful view of the lagoon! If you prefer, you can explore the swamp by “Cayuco” (Tabasco’s typical wooden boat) and discover its mystery by passing through  narrow channels that are rich in fauna.

SAN JUANITO,TABASCO

Another option is San Juanito , a two  hour journey through channels where vegetation is lush. At the end of the trip, you get to a hut where you will eat a typical dish and enjoy the wonderful view of the union of three rivers: Usumacinta, Grijalva and San Pedro. This union is better known as “Tres Brazos”(Three Arms)

Punta Manglar Ecotouristic Development

Punta Manglar Ecotourist Reserve Ideal place for practicing activities related to flora and fauna observation in order to learn about the nature in this region. You can take a great boat ride through the mangrove swamp or a walk by an interpretative path with a specialized guide. “Punta Manglar” offers restaurant service, rustic huts for resting in a small island where you can paticipate in water  recreational activities or learn about the environment

BEACHES

Other tourist attractions of Centla are the beaches.  They are on the  Gulf of Mexico. The most important are “Pico de Oro”, “Playa Azul”, “Miramar”, “El Bosque” and “Pelicanos”

Pico de oro

This amazing beach is the ideal place to enjoy the calm and fresh water! At the shade of the palm trees, you can rest while seabirds are flying around.

Playa Azul

The  best place for people who like practicing aquatic sport, especially, scuba diving, swimming and fishing. Waves are calm and there is an abundance of aquatic species. You can discover another extraordinary sub aquatic world. In Playa Azul, you will find tourist services like restaurants, bungalows, etc.

Miramar

El Bosque
